I have not called Mama yet because I know that she attended the procession with your Adings. I remember last year on a Good Friday, we were under the mango tree. I didn't want to watch the penitensya (flagellation) because I don't feel comfortable looking at people beating or whipping themselves. I think you and Ading Linus went to watch for a bit and then came back because you were afraid you might get splashed by some blood. So we hung out under the mango tree instead and I took some photos of you and Adings. This is the last photo of you that I took with your Adings and Ading Jezer on a Good Friday.
I was actually thinking that today should be the Grieving Mother's Day because some time in AD 33, Mother Mary also lost her only begotten Son. It was on a Friday that our Saviour Jesus Christ was crucified, died and was buried.
"When Jesus saw His mother and the disciple whom He loved standing nearby, he said to His mother, "Woman, behold, your son!". Then He said to the disciple, "Behold, your mother". And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home. "
John 19: 26-27
How is Good Friday like over there? I bet you have your own way of remembering this day. Perhaps Jesus is telling you stories about what happened to Him that day. I know you already knew about it, as you often read the Bible. But wouldn't it be nice to hear it directly from Him?
Ahhh, I so miss you anak and today I would like to leave you with a poem:
A Mother's Love
A Mother's love is something
that no on can explain,
It is made of deep devotion
and of sacrifice and pain,
It is endless and unselfish
and enduring come what may
For nothing can destroy it
or take that love away . . .
It is patient and forgiving
when all others are forsaking,
And it never fails or falters
even though the heart is breaking . . .
It believes beyond believing
when the world around condemns,
And it glows with all the beauty
of the rarest, brightest gems . . .
It is far beyond defining,
it defies all explanation,
And it still remains a secret
like the mysteries of creation . . .
A many splendored miracle
man cannot understand
And another wondrous evidence
of God's tender guiding hand.
- Helen Steiner Rice
And with this poem is a verse from the Bible :
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16
I love you so much baby.
